Elisa Clow
People and Culture Manager

My background began with an art degree that took me into the film industry, set dressing then my own flower business. This has significantly influenced the way I approach HR and training. Creativity isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about problem-solving, storytelling, and understanding human behaviour, all of which are crucial in people-focused roles.

In set dressing, every detail contributes to the overall atmosphere and helps tell a story. Similarly, in HR and training, every interaction, policy, and initiative shape the culture and employee experience. Just as a well-designed set makes a scene feel authentic, a well-structured training program ensures employees feel engaged, supported, and empowered.

Art also taught me to see beyond the obvious, to look at challenges from different angles, and to create solutions that resonate emotionally. When mentoring or guiding employees, I don’t just focus on processes and policies—I consider their individual journeys, motivations, and aspirations. Much like composing a visual scene, I strive to create environments where people can thrive.

Set dressing and floristry required adaptability, working with various teams under pressure to bring a vision to life. In HR, the same applies—whether handling conflict resolution, coaching leadership, or designing training, I draw upon my ability to think on my feet, anticipate needs, and create meaningful outcomes.

Ultimately, I never left the creative field; I just shifted my medium. Instead of working with props and flowers, I now work with people—the most dynamic and rewarding canvas of all.
