Following a long career in both executive and non executive roles in financial services, I spend a substantial proportion of my time in the Not-for-Profit sector.

I currently serve as a Senior Adviser to the Ismaili Imamat and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) which is active in the fields of education, healthcare, rural development, microfinance, culture and economic development and am a Board member of several international institutions within the AKDN. I serve as Chairman of AKDN’s endowment committee.

I worked at Salomon Brothers for 10 years, initially in Corporate Finance and subsequently as the CFO for Europe. After that, I spent 12 years in various senior roles at Barclays in investment banking, asset management, wealth management, as Group Finance Director and as Vice Chairman of Barclays Bank. I also served as Chief Executive of JP Morgan Cazenove and served on the Board of Standard Chartered, a major international bank for over 8 years where I was Deputy Chairman.   I have until recently also Chaired the Boards of Rothesay Limited, a specialist pensions insurer and Petershill Partners Plc, an alternative asset management business.

In the past I have served as a Non-Executive Director of NHS England, on the Board of the UK-US Fulbright Commission,  the board of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance,  the Prince’s Trust Development Board and as an Adviser to HMRC and to the Financial Services Authority. I have also been a Non-Executive Director of Absa Group in South Africa and of First Caribbean International Bank. I spent 11 years as a member of the Investment Committee of the Wellcome Trust and have also served on the Finance Committee of Oxford University Press and the Finance Committee of the University of Cambridge.

I am happy to have the opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge acquired in business to the Not-for-Profit sector and contribute back to society in a meaningful way.

I am a founder investor in the Point A Hotels and Sloane Club ventures, as well as an investor in the KFC Europe business and I act as an adviser to Queensway supporting its growth and development.
